This is it…*sings* make no mistake where you are…

Yes, I had to continue singing that song.

But that’s not what this is about. This is it. In two days, I will be taking on the biggest writing challenge so far in my life. It’s so big that when I’m finished, I might have a head close to exploding. It’s so big that it will be declared a planet once it’s over. It’s so big that…screw the metaphors.

I will be taking on NaNoWriMo.

Like I said a few weeks ago, it’s something that I wanted to do last year, and due to circumstances that were out of my control, it wasn’t possible. So I’m doing it now, a year later.

So here’s the deal–the working title is Mirror, Mirror. It’s a fantasy/romance, although it’s mostly fantasy than the romance. It will involve mirrors, mirror worlds, and stone figurines with crystallized eyes. That’s the jist of it basically. Creating a cover for that will be a bit of a challenge in itself.

In order for me to stay on track with the 50,000-word goal, I would have to do a little bit under 1700 words a day. Now that they broke that down for me, it seems extra possible. Of course, this is assuming that you work on it every day, including holidays. That’s a bit of a problem, since my family comes over very early for the festivities, which would mean very little time to myself until they leave. 95% of the time, however, I end up with a migraine thanks to saving space for my massive pig-out, and all the fricken noise. So on November…what day is Thanksgiving? Anyway, on that day, you’ll very little of me anywhere.

I came up with a solution to that problem. Instead of the bare minimum, I decided to aim a little higher–about 100 words higher. Considering that I’ve written stuff that spans 4,000 words in one day, 1800 words is not a problem. Of course, I haven’t done that in 5 years, but it shouldn’t be too bad. Like I said, however, once this is all done, my head will be close to exploding.

However, I also made a promise to myself that if I finish this project, I will do it again. After perusing through my friends list on Facebook, I came up with another idea for a novel. Of course, it won’t be right after this one. But one step at a time. While I’m writing Mirror, Mirror I will keep you posted on my progress here. I might get extra irritable, or I might be refreshed to be actually busy. You’ll see it all.

Until then, I will say this much. Happy Halloween, and Mother Nature, go to hell.

The way that it’s been feeling over here, I’m surprised that penguins haven’t migrated over here. But it’s probably a good thing, seeing as it’s going to be 65 degrees tomorrow. Wouldn’t want the cute creatures to prematurely migrate.
