Rants, programs, and graduations

Now, I’m usually not one to bitch about comments and stuff. But a few people may know where I’m coming from with this one.

So I’m a member of the commenting sites. I get the Despair email, and I comment within the time limit unless the site is down, the site’s on hiatus, or the person has neglected the site to the point where their last entry was in February. I mean what’s the use of having a blog if you’re going to leave your site to rot. Sometimes the site is hosted on someone’s domain. Now really, these people are hosting you from the goodness of their hearts so you can get the fuck away from Geoshitties. You neglecting your site without probably not telling them is kinda rude, no?

But that’s not what my rant is about. It’s about people who are on the commenter sites. Not all of you, but there are a few people, and I noticed this as well, who won’t comment on the sites given to them. I was checking my emails, and even though I don’t have the best memory, I can remember websites and people who are supposed to comment. I’ve run into at least 6 people who was supposed to comment here, and they never did. Fine and dandy if you’re busy, because that’s a viable excuse. But if you know you’re going to be busy, they have a little button that says if you’re going on hiatus or if you’re going to be unavailable, then click it, so you don’t get an email.

I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I didn’t get a chance to comment on sites that I needed to for two weeks. When I got back from the hospital, what did I do? Checked my 110 emails, and went through all of the commenter sites’ emails and commented on every site. I attached to it an apology and I commented. I could have easily said “fuck it”, but I didn’t. Circumstances do come up. But some people just will say “fuck it”.

Don’t do that. You joined these exchanges. If you don’t want to be forced to comment on people’s sites, then fine and dandy. Don’t join then. I found a few wonderful sites that I’ve commented on and I will keep doing it. And if I see that you have to comment on my site and you don’t. I’ll give you 72 hours. I’ll give you ONE WEEK. If I don’t see that you have commented, I will start reporting. I think that’s a good deal considering that some people will give 72 hours and no more.

So there. Now that that’s off my chest…no Mobile Meme this week. Krissy had something wrong with her laptop and her desktop. Something about a bug getting inside the laptop’s screen. She doesn’t even know how that happened, lol. Hey, maybe she’ll get the laptop back before the week’s through. But as of now, the Mobile Meme is on a one-week (forced) hiatus.

So my niece graduated from kindergarten. This would have been her fourth graduation. Okay, before you wonder what the hell is going on, let me explain. So when she was three, she went to pre-nursery, and she graduated from there to nursery. They saw that she was very much advanced, so they moved her into pre-kindergarten out of nursery. She graduated from pre-kindergarten, and because of her age (she was 4) they made her do pre-k again. Something about them skipping her ahead too soon or some shit like that, I dunno. So she did all that stuff she did the year before again in pre-k. Then she graduated from pre-k…again. That’s three right? Okay. So now she went to kindergarten and now she graduated from kindergarten…number 4. Now if you want to look at it like this, she would have at least 4 more graduations: 5th or 6th (I dunno what that school stops at), 8th, 12th and college. And if she wants to go get her Master’s, yeah. I’m sure she’ll break the Guiness book of records for the most graduations. I have pictures, but I haven’t put them on the comp yet (still in the digital camera).

After that, we went to eat dinner. Red Lobster. I don’t know if I said this here, but I wanted to go out for dinner on my birthday, and because I was in the hospital, I never got to go. So I got to go on Friday. I wish I could have gone back to March and have it then, but…I’m going to make it my point of existence to acquire some friends and go drinking for my 22nd.

So I went back to the program again today. After two weeks of trying to look for a job, and failing miserably, I figured that I better be out there rather than in my house. They said that they’ll set me up with another one for job placement in 2 months. So I’ll be broke for at least another 2 months. So, yeah, donations and buying hosting and advertising would help me out a lot.

I’m very close to closing my MB. I’m seriously just giving up on owning one. I’ve always wanted to own just one successful board. I owned three dead ones. I’m like someone who’s gone on so many bad dates that they’ve pretty much given up on that. I don’t give up that easily, but I dunno. I’ve had a few people help me out, but a message board is a group activity. The members make the board. If you don’t have active members, you don’t have a board. So…yeah. I’ll just end up focusing on other projects. Like making a new layout for this site.

And so I leave with a love of strawberry cheesecake ice cream, which I’m about to go in my kitchen and get while watching Adult Swim. Laters!

  1. I think you’re right. They should comment on your site because they commited to it. But it seems that you get a lot of comments so I think you should keep on kicking ass and go forget those guys but heck if you feel like getting even because some times its fun πŸ™‚ then go for it because they desserve what they get in the scenario.

  2. I completely agree with you. I always comment within the 48 hours of receiving the email. Sometimes closer to the 48 hours like today, but always before. I despise the people who can’t do their part. I work full time all day then have a second job I do in my free time, plus cleaning and spendng time with my fiance, emails, etc. So I’m busy too. Yet I still manage to comment on my assigned sites.

  3. I have to agree with you. It happened more than once that I’m assigned to people who did not leave any comments on my site – they are always in the rotation but they don’t do their job. 😑
Sounds like your niece is going to have a life more interesting than most of us. πŸ™‚ I’m sure she will love her photo album with a lot of graduation pictures when she grows up.

  4. Hey! it irritates me too…not half as much as it does for you but sometimes i can get pretty upset especially when im up at 1:00 in the morning doing my comments because of a long day at work and i didnt even get the comments for my site πŸ˜• And yea! sometimes my excuse is that im really busy…because i am. Doesnt mean that the comment isnt going to be made…sometimes it’ll be a day late or something. Well hopefully after reading your entry they’ll come and comment more. Heres your comment from exentrique

  5. Yeah, it is pretty annoying when people don’t comment when they’re supposed to since when they signed up they made the commitment too. I always try to comment in the 48 hours that I am supposed to and if for some reason I am busy and can’t, I will comment on those sites as soon as I can.

Wow, four that’s a lot. That will surely be something for her to remember.

  6. I found you through Dispair coincidentally and I wasnt sent a required link to comment (was F5’ing my main page for links) but I liked your blog. I joined for traffic mostly and hopefully ill keep a few visitors because I love my blog. I write every day, if i can, and if I dont its because I absolutely passed out. Although, finding people who are similarly avid about their websites seems to be rare.

and a more relevant comment, I only had 2 graduations as a kid. Sixth grade and high school. Well, im 19 so i guess i’m still akid but you get my point, right?

  7. Sucks that they don’t comment. :S I usually comment immediately once I get the mail, but I don’t check who doesn’t comment, I just trust that they do. Also funny that your niece has graduated so often. πŸ˜› I think she beat me already!

  8. I think the same way about people not commenting on sites. I joined Despair and Exentrique, and I usually comment on site the same day as I receive the email. I’ve started to notice that sometimes none of the 3 persons who have to comment actually comment. So now I’m thinking about reporting them too. It is sad, because you have to threaten people to comment on your site, but some people just want the comments and don’t give anything in return πŸ™

  9. An aunt is good to be proud of a niece who has gone through 4 graduations! That’s actually pretty cool. The only pre-gradeschooling I had was kindergarten itself. Also, that’s great that you got to go where you wanted to eat after your birthday, it’s like compensation I guess.

I think the commenting thing is kind of… weird because sometimes you just get useless comments anyway. I don’t care much for the comments, but I still do them.

  10. I’m SO sorryy! I feel bad now…as I was supposed to comment earlier! I know there was a time limit… (I’m one day off, I think) but I was just really busy at school as it just started for me and I have tons of stuff to do. I’m SO sorryyy.

lol wtf, graduation from Kindergarten. Haaha. We only have grad after 7th grade and 4th year highschool. Well there’s this place here called Red Crab..? HAHA.

  11. I completely agree with you about Despair. It’s so frustrating when individuals don’t comment. It’s like why bother joining the site if you don’t intend to comment. Freaking morons. Anyway, I hope your niece had a fun time graduating. Personally, I think society is getting way to into praising. What happened to the days when parents never acknowledged their children’s achievements? Oh, well all I know is future generations are going to be a bunch of pussies.

  12. I agree with you entirely!
I’ve noticed a bunch of people in the list of “you should get comments from” that never comment! I mean, if you sign up for it, you should do what you agreed to do… in exchange for comments on your own site. I mean, it’s not like it’s that hard to do… plus it’s interesting, in my opinion.
A rant like that was long overdue.
And I love kids around that age (3, 4, 5..) I think that’s their cutest age.

  13. I guess I’m not as picky as most people when it comes to commenting sites, and people not commenting. Sure I joined Despair to get some more traffic to my site, and to obtain comments.. but… I’d rather not get useless comments (like the one above mine, for example) that are just left because they need to fulfill the rules and/or in hopes of you returning their comment to make their site look more active.

I’d rather see the same IP’s visiting my site then getting inane comments. -shrugs- who knows. i’m lazy when it comes to commenting, because I will NOT leave a comment in the blog was rediculous, or so awful that i couldn’t even read past the 2nd sentence.

  14. I understand about the comment thing, I always comment and not a lot of the supposed people comment back, which is unfair for us, because we do it like we’re supposed too! 😑

  15. I know what you mean about the commenting thing and have seen this same rant on multiple sites off and on. πŸ™‚ It does suck, but I suppose that’s what comes with it. Nothing is perfect.. but it damn well should be I’ll tell you what! πŸ™‚ Just report them and hopefully you won’t get them again!

My little brother didn’t have a kindergarten graduation. I think they’re phasing them out or something.. it’s bullshit! πŸ™
